Lillie (Beatty) Dial was born in Huntersville in 1925. She attended Pineville Colored Elementary School and Pineville Colored High School in Pineville, N.C. She graduated from Barber Scotia College and taught in segregated and integrated schools, mostly in Charlotte, N.C. She continued teaching elementary school after she retired. Ms Dial is the author of the book: "The Pineville-Sterling High School history : 1938-1966."
