Lawyer and civic leader Ely M. Aaron (1896-1975) was a partner in the law firm Aaron, Aaron, Schimberg and Hess. He also served as President of the Jewish Vocational Service and Employment Center, 1941-1946, and as Chairman of the Chicago chapter of the American Jewish Committee, 1946-1952. In addition, Ely M. Aaron was a member of the Chicago Committee on Urban Opportunity. Formed by the mayor in 1964, this committee was dedicated to combatting poverty through assisting community action programs under the aegis of the 1964 Economic Opportunity Act.
