New England New State Movement
The chief objective of the Movement formerly The Northern New State Movement (N.S.W.) was the establishment (by constitutional means) of self-government for the northern district of N.S.W. known as New England. The proposed State was to stretch from the Hunter valley (including the City of Newcastle) in the south to the Queensland border, and from the coast westward to the border of South Australia.
