Alumnus of both the high school (1928) and college (1932) at South Carolina State University (formerly the Colored Normal, Industrial, Agricultural and Mechanical College of South Carolina and South Carolina State College); received Masters in chemistry from Cornell University, 1934; taught chemistry at South Carolina State University, 1935-1959; served the school in several positions, including Director of Student Activities and Public Relations (1960-1968)and Director of Admissions and Records (1968-1975); became the "voice of the Bulldogs" by introducing sound at football games, 1966; named president of Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society, 1970.
