Mira H. Ehrman (1892-1982) was one of Portland's most reknowned civic leaders.

Mira H. Ehrman (1892-1982) was one of Portland's most reknowned civic leaders.

She was a member of numerous organizations including the Council of Jewish Women, a Red Cross volunteer, Visiting Nurses Association, Oregon Mental Hygiene Society, Fruit and Flower Mission, Family Service Committee and the Portland Garden Club. Perhaps her most important contribution was the founding of and participation in Portland's USO in 1942. In 1970 she received the prestigious National USO Award for Distinguished Service. She was the first woman to receive the honor. On a local level, she was chosen as the First Person of Portland in 1966.
