Martha Chavez is a vocal performer and instructor in Utah.
Martha Chavez was born in Piedras Negras Coahuila, Mexico. She moved with her family to the United States when she was ten years old. One of her elementary school teachers sang really well in class, and Martha began to imitate her singing. Martha was offered a scholarship from the University of New Mexico, but turned it down to attend Brigham Young University, also on scholarship. While at BYU, she developed her singing and dancing, as she pursued her degree in Mexican-American Studies and Folklore. She continued to develop her talent for singing. After performing many times, she decided that she would rather teach, so she returned to Utah and opened her own voice studio. She now teaches over one hundred students and often has to turn students who want to take lessons away. She has also helped with the Spanish version of the Primary songbook and has performed many LDS songs. She currently resides in Murray, Utah.
