Cheryl Coatney (1951- ) was a convert to the LDS church who has served various music-related callings. She currently works with the American Red Cross as a Skill Evaluator for their Competency Evaluation Program.

Cheryl Coatney was born 16 March 1951 in Sacramento, Sacramento County, California. She grew up in the Arden-Arcade community and attended Rio Americano High School. She graduated from American River College in Sacramento in 1971, receiving an Associate Degree in General Science. In 1974 she received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of California, Davis. It was here at UC Davis she joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 12 May 1973. In 1977 she received an Associate of Science in Nursing from Brigham Young University. Cheryl worked in the neurosurgical ward at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento and many years thereafter with the elderly in skilled nursing facilities in the area. She is currently working as a Skill Evaluator for the Competency Evaluation Program with the American Red Cross at different locations around Northern California. She played the string bass in college and in various musical organizations. She has served in many LDS church callings, most of them music-related. She has three children and two grand-children.
