William D. Warren received three degrees from Cornell University: BS 1920, MS 1926, and Ph.D. 1930. He was born in Akron, NY, 1896, the son of Orson L. and Mary Frances Osborne Warren, and went to school in Elmira, NY. He served in the American Expeditionary Forces, 1917-19, as a 2nd Lt., 28th Inf. First Division. He was in the 2nd Battle of the Marne, Meuse Argonne Campaign, where he was wounded and received the Silver Star Award with Oak Leaf. He became a chemistry professor at East Central State Teachers College, Ada, OK., 1930-1944, and then the head of the Chemistry Department at Western College, Oxford, OH, a position he held until his death in 1959.
