The Illinois Telecommunication Commission (1967-1969), composed of the Superintendent of Public Instruction and twelve gubernatorial appointees, was to conduct a comprehensive study of Illinois telecommunication needs and establish guidelines and priorities for goal implementation. Additionally, the Superintendent of Public Instruction was to establish, maintain, and operate a Department for Instructional Television and Radio Materials Development and Production for Illinois educational institutions. The commission reported its findings to the General Assembly when it expired in 1969.
