Committee for Everyman.

Hide Profile

The Committee for Everyman appears to have grown out of the West coast branch of The Committee for Nonviolent Action. On May 27, 1962, CNVA attempted to sail a trimaran, Everyman I, from Sausalito to Christmas Island in the Pacific Ocean to obstruct scheduled nuclear tests. By the end of 1962, two more sailings were attempted. The CNVA-West at 2120 Market Street was office for the Everyman project; another office was located at 330 - 10th Street, San Francisco, and some meetings were held at 567 Haight Street. Everyman hosted an Everyman Peace Festival in July 1962. Protests and pickets were staged for several months in 1962 at Seventh and Mission Streets, San Francisco.
