Dr. William "Bill" Chappell earned three degrees from the University of Alabama -- Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1969, MA in Political Science, and Ph.D. in Political Science in 1977. He spent two years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He came to Columbus College in 1976 as a one-year replacement to teach Political Science, and ended up staying as a permanent faculty member. He served as chair of the Department of Political Science; and Assistant Dean, Associate Dean, and then Dean of the College of Arts and Letters. He received the Faculty Service Award in 1998 and 1999.
