Great Britain. Army. Brigade of Guards
Variant namesFormed February 1776, under the command of Brigadier General Edward Mathew, by drafting men from the three existing regiments of foot guards for service in America. Arrived in New York in August 1776; surrendered at Yorktown in October 1781.
