Fenton, Mary Frances, 1937-2006

Mary Frances Fenton (1937-2006) was associate professor emerita of Education and Professional Development at Western Michigan University where she served as a faculty member of the Faculty Graphics Service from 1963 to 1991. She was also an artist, women's advocate, lecturer, organic gardener, and the life partner of noted environmental educator Mary Appelhof. In 1972, she became the first president of the WMU Commission on the Status of Women, and she co-founded Kalamazoo's first feminist art group, Matrix, in 1977.
