Savannah (Ga.). Office of the Mayor
Variant namesIn 1819, the Georgia legislature expanded the Mayor's Court into the Court of Common Pleas and Oyer and Terminer for the City of Savannah. This change included the election of the Judge, Clerk, and Solicitor by the city's citizens, rather than by appointment. In 1853, the name changed to the City Court of Savannah.
