Marshall Manufacturing Company (Va.)
The Marshall Manufacturing Company (of Manchester [later Richmond], Va.), a manufacturer of textiles used for cotton bagging, was chartered in 1837. The secretary for the first few years of the company was Pizarro Edmunds. Jonathan L. Bacon (1812-1887) later served as president until his death, after which Gen. Birkett D. Fry (1822-1891), previously a secretary with the company, became president. In 1897, the company apparently ceased operations, but it might have merged with Old Dominion Cotton Mills (of Petersburg, Va.).
