Noyes was graduated from Dartmouth College in 1832. He attended Andover Theological Seminary and received his DD from the University of Vermont in 1853. He was Phillips professor of theology (1849-1869) and professor of political economics and intellectual philosophy (1869-1883) at Dartmouth College.
