Samuel A. Law was a lawyer, farmer, land agent, postmaster, politician, merchant, saw mill owner and community leader in Delaware County, N.Y. As a dealer in land Law acted mainly as an agent for the Drinker, Fisher, Meredith and Clymer, and Wharton interests. Law was also extremely active in local and state politics, running for various local offices.

Law's interst in agriculture and animal husbandry led him to attempt to introduce Spanish merino sheep in the United States. He also attempted to introduce new seed types and encourage agricultural development in Delaware County. He assisted in the development of roads in the county and in the development of other public benefit programs.
