David Burke settled in Screven County, Georgia, around 1800. He and his wife Martha had nine children. The deeds, plats, and surveys in this collection document land owned by the Burke family in Effingham and Screven counties. Landowners represented in the papers include David Burke, his son Simeon Burke, and Adam Brinson, who was possibly Davis Burke's son-in-law. The family papers were passed down to Lois Burke George and gifted to the Georgia Historical Society in her honor.
