Rev. Samuel Gwinnett (1732-1792) was the son of Samuel and Anne Eames Gwinnett who was the vicar of St Mary and Corpus Christi at Down Hatherley and minister of St. Nicholson in Gloucester, England. His other siblings included Anna Maria, Button (1735-1777), John, Rob, and Emilia. He attended Wadham College, Oxford. Rev. Gwinnett married Emilia Button, the daughter of Robert Button.
