Bruce, William George, 1856-1949
Variant namesThe son of Augustus and Appolonia Bruce, William George Bruce was born on March 17, 1856, in Milwaukee. He founded Bruce Publishing Co., which published the "Milwaukee School Board Journal," and served on the Milwaukee School Board, as chairman of the Democratic County Committee, and secretary of the Merchants' and Manufacturers' Association of Milwaukee. He also wrote a three-volume "History of Milwaukee."
