Helen H. Cloutier Schmock is a Michigan author. She was the former program and continuity director of WESK-NBC at Escanaba (Mich.). Schmock was a talented painter, staff reporter for the Escanaba Daily Press, free-lance writer for national serials, lecturer, and ham radio enthusiast. She attended the universities of Los Angeles, New Mexico, Minnesota, and Michigan State. Schmock received her M.A. and teaching certificate from Central Michigan University in 1971. Mournful Mouse, one of her characters, became a book character in prose and poetry. One of her books and Mournful Mouse artwork are in the Clarke Historical Library. In 1994 she lived in Manistee (Mich.).
