Lanphier, Charles Henry, 1820-1903.
Manager and owner of the Illinois State Register, 1846-1863, clerk of the Sangamon County Circuit Court, 1864-1872, and member of the Democrat State Committee. A good friend of Stephen A. Douglas, Lanphier supported his political campaigns and influenced Democratic Party policy through his newspaper.
