Ludwig Joseph Weber was born on October 16, 1898 in St. George, Minnesota. He earned his B.S. in 1920, Ch.E. in 1920 and Ph.D. in 1924, all from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Weber joined the staff of the University of Minnesota in 1921 as an assistant in chemistry. He was promoted to instructor in the School of Mines and Metallurgy in 1923. Dr. Weber left the University of Minnesota in 1929 for a position in the research laboratory of the Aluminum Company of America.
