John, Viscount Ponsonby, ca. 1770-1855
Eldest son of the 1st Baron Ponsonby. Brother of Mary, Countess Grey, wife of the 2nd Earl Grey. Succeeded his father as 2nd Baron Ponsonby 1806; created Viscount Ponsonby of Imokilly, 1839. A diplomat, involved in missions to South America 1826-9, Belgium 1831, Naples 1832, Constantinople 1833-41, Vienna 1846-50.
