Allen (1892- May 20, 1971?) was a Grand Rapids architect. He began and operated Roger Allen and Associates. He designed many of Central Michigan University (CMU) and Ferris State University's buildings, or remodeled or added to them. He was honored during CMU's 75th anniversary. During the Depression, when the need for architects was low, Allen began writing his humor column. It was first published in the Grand Rapids Chronicle and, later, in the Grand Rapids Press. He also wrote a book about the history of St. Mark's Church Episcopal Church in Grand Rapids. In 1967, Allen was married and had two daughters, Mrs. I.G. Hunsberger and Mrs. Robert Peckham, both of Grand Rapids. A copy of his book, architectural plans for Park Library and the Science Building at CMU are available in the Clarke Historical Library.
