A zoologist at the University of Alberta who has worked extensively on the following topics: limnology, water quality, hazardous waste management, and the red-lipped blenny. He has been a member of the Department of Zoology at the University of Alberta since 1953 and served two terms as chairman, 1964-1969 and 1974-1978. He has served on numerous advisory boards, including those of the Edmonton Zoo and the new National Museum.
