Hoeck, Karl, 1794-1877
Variant namesGerman professor of classical philology and ancient history, as well as a librarian, at the University of Göttingen. Hoeck began teaching at Göttingen as a private lecturer in 1818. He was promoted to professor without chair (ausserordentlicher Professor) in 1823, the rank he held at the time of these lectures. He was subsequently appointed as full professor, in July 1831.
