Jones, Daniel, 1811-1861
Variant namesFarmer, explorer, steamboat captain, and Mormon Church leader. Native of Wales, emigrated to the United States in 1840, joined the Mormon Church in 1843 and served as a missionary for that church to Wales (1845-9 and 1852-6), came to Utah in 1849, and served as mayor of Manti, Utah (1851-2).
