Mr. Harris was a successful Minnesota businessman who moved to Chicago in 1948 and in 1962 with his brother Neison gained controlling interest of the Pittway Corporation in 1962. In addition to his business interests, he became a major philanthropist, especially in the areas of child development, education and psychology.
