Dr. Iezzoni is Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Associate Director of the Institute for Health Policy at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Previously, she was Co-Director of Research in the Division of General Medicine and Primary Care, Department of Medicine, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. In 1998, she was the first woman to be appointed professor in the department of medicine at Beth Israel Hospital. Dr. Iezzoni is the author of Risk Adjustment for Measuring Health Care Outcomes, When Walking Fails: Mobility Problems of Adults with Chronic Conditions, and More than Ramps: a Guide to Improving Health Care Quality and Access for People with Disabilities. She is an expert in measuring severity of illness, assessing health care risks for quality measurement and payment purposes, identifying complications of health care using administrative data, and various topics relating to disability.
