Arthur Bostwick Havens was born in 1836 to Ceballos Daniel Paul Havens and Eleanor Frey Havens of Ephratah (Fulton County), New York. In the 1850s, he and his brothers Paul Egbert Havens and Eugene Frey Havens moved to Kansas Territory. They settled in Leavenworth, where Arthur Havens became a real estate broker and collection agent, an agent for the Merchants' Despatch Fast Freight Line, and secretary of the Kansas Immigration Society, which promoted Kansas settlement and land sales. From 1876 to 1882, he and his brother Paul co-owned and operated a large flour mill near Leavenworth. Havens was married to Frances Beaumont. He died in 1921.
