Martin, Leonard, 1914-
Leonard Martin was born in 1914 in Wedowee, Ala. He enlisted in the Army in 1934 and was shipped to Fort Benning, where he served in the 83rd Field Artillery (one of the last horse-drawn units in the Army) until 1940, when he enlisted in the 4th Division, 29th Field Artillery. Later he was sent to Camp Pickett, Virginia to organize a 79th Division.
