Van Dyke, Augustus M., 1838-1918
Variant namesAugustus M. Van Dyke moved from Ohio to Princeton, Gibson County, Indiana in 1860 where he practiced as an attorney. He enlisted as a first sergeant in the 14th Indiana Regiment in 1861 and rose to the rank of lieutenant. In 1864 he was named assistant adjutant general for the 4th Division, 15th Corps, Army of the Tennessee.
