Good Shepherd Lutheran is a daughter church of Spencer Creek Lutheran. A meeting was held on June 29, 1955 to consider the possibility of building. Gifts of timber, land and money made this possible. On September 7, 1955 the first general meeting of the new congregation was held. Organization took place and the name “The Good Shepherd Lutheran” was agreed upon, chosen in remembrance of the 23rd Psalm. There were 35 charter members. Groundbreaking for the new church was held September 11, 1955. The first service of the congregation was held on Palm Sunday, March 25, 1957. The first service in the new church was held on Christmas Day of 1957. Acceptance into the ELC occurred in June of 1958. Plans for a parsonage were discussed and voted upon in August of 1959. The dedication of the church was held April 4, 1965.
