Hobart, Inez M.

Inez Hobart, state nutrition specialist and associate professor in home economics, was associated with the University of Minnesota Agricultural Extension Service 1923/1924-1954. During the depression in the 1930s, the Minnesota State Emergency Relief Administration (SERA), in cooperation with the Agricultural Extension Division of the University, studied nutritional problems. The findings of these studies were used by SERA to distribute food to people on the relief rolls, in the initiation of such projects as the hot school lunches for children and in reorientation programs designed to change the inadequate food habits of people in general. Inez Hobart served as extension nutritionist for SERA and took an active interest in the nutrition research projects and assisted in organizing relief agencies all over the state of Minnesota.
