Taber, George A. (George Albert), 1853-1907
George Albert Taber was born in Springport, New York, on January 3, 1853, the son of Stephen Taber and Mary Maria Smith. In 1875, he began studying homeopathy at the University of Michigan; he graduated with an M.D. in 1877 and became an assistant professor of materia medica at the university. In 1880, he moved to Victory, New York, where he established a private medical practice, and in 1885 he moved his practice to Richmond, Virginia. From 1886-1894, he was a member of the state board of medical examiners, and he later served as president of the Hahnemann Medical Society of the Old Dominion (later the Virginia Homeopathic Medical Society). On June 1, 1880, Taber married Caroline Lake Crowell, and they had three children. George Albert Taber died on December 14, 1907.
