Mahar, William F., 1947-
Illinois Republican state senator from Homewood, Illinois in the 19th district served in the legislature from 1985-present(2003). Served on and chaired for a number of years the Environment and Energy Committee, the Financial Institutions and Public Health and Welfare Committees and the Legislative Research Unit. Co-chaired the Illinois Campaign to Protect Our Children and helped develop Community Block Home Program. Also involved in programs to prevent youth suicide. Very active in public utility legislation to protect the consumer, funding for domestic violence shelters and more severe legislation for repeat drunk drivers.
