Born in Oakland, CA. in 1913, Laurence "Larry" Jump was an instructor for the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale and received a number of military awards. He was responsible for forming Arapahoe Basin, Inc. ski resort in 1946 and later developed Arapahoe East. Jump also founded Lift Services, Inc. which serviced the Pomalift and Telecar lift systems which merged to create Mountain Lift. He married Marjorie (Marnie) Brown in 1948. Jump retired from the ski business in 1986.
