Henry Platt Cushing was a member of the New York State Geological Survey from 1893. In 1890, Cushing made an expedition to Glacier Bay, Alaska. This party was organized by Dr. H. F. Reid of the Case School of Applied Science and saught to explore and map the basin of Muir Glacier.
