Grand Army of the Republic. George C. Strong Post No. 166 (Easthampton, Mass.)
Civil War veterans organization formed by the G.A.R. Dept. of Massachusetts in 1884; dissolved in 1917; named in honor of Brig. Gen. George C. Strong, a native of Vermont who was brought up by his uncle in Easthampton before attending West Point (died of wounds received at Fort Wagner, S.C. in 1863).
