Wemmer, Frederick.

The Pioneer Congregational Church in Sacramento on September 16, 1849. According to Frederick Wemmer's conclusions, the Grace Epsicopal Church in the same city was founded on September 23, 1849, one week later, by visiting Reverend Flavel S. Mines, and Reverend Richard F. Burnham served as first rector of the parish. Since some sources reported the founding date of Grace Church as August 1849, thereby placing it earlier than Pioneer Congregational, Wemmer needed to conduct exhaustive research to detemine, as close as possible, the exact founding dates of both churches.
