South Carolina family. Samuel Gourdin (1766-1821) was the owner of Buck Hall Plantation on the Cooper River (S.C.). His children included Rebecca Ann Gourdin (1805-1881), Henry Gourdin (1804-1879), and Dr. Theodore Gourdin. Rebecca Ann Gourdin married Rev. Thomas J. Young (1803-1852); their son was Henry Edward Young (1831-1918), a Charleston, S.C. attorney. Dr. Theodore Gourdin (d. 1859), a physician of Georgetown, S.C., married Elizabeth Frances Allston (d. 1834)), daughter of Dr. William Allston and Mary Pyatt Allston, and their children included Dr. Samuel Gourdin (d. 1865) and Theodore Samuel Gourdin (1823-1861), a Charleston, S.C. attorney.
