Dr. Taussig, a pioneer in the field of pediatric cardiology, became a member of the Johns Hopkins faculty in 1930 and retired from active teaching in 1969. She received the Gold Heart Award of the American Heart Association in 1963 and was the first woman to be the Association's president.
