The Alpha Lambda Delta Society was founded in 1924 at the University of Illinois as an academic honors society for students in their first year of undergraduate studies. To join Alpha Lambda Delta, students must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher and be in the top 20% of their class. North Carolina State's chapter of the Society was encorporated in or before 1970, and remains active as of 2008.
