Miss Belle Williams (1877-1952) daughter of Thomas Smith Williams and Martha America Holston, was born near Monetta, S.C.; Williams worked as a teacher of foreign languages at Erskine College and elsewhere; she passed away in Columbia, S.C., on 6 Apr. 1952. Her research interests included bird-watching, photography, and genealogy.

At time of her death, Williams' bequests were said to have included a significant gift of money and Indian artifacts to the Columbia Museum of Art; along with additional material left to the public library in Edgefield, S.C. [see Asbill Family History, by George T. Bennett, ca. 1962 edition.].
