(For history of the Lutheran Council in the USA (LCUSA), see OCLC #38922091.) LCUSA's Division of Public Relations was established in 1967 at the Council's founding. Its Department of Films supervised the writing of scripts and the production, distribution, and exploitation of film presentations, as well as provided services to Lutheran Film Associates. The Department's name was changed to Film and Broadcast Relations Unit in 1972. In 1973, the Division was renamed the Office of Communication and Interpretation. Under this Office, the Film and Broadcast Relations Unit was again renamed Media Relations Unit in 1980-1981. The LCUSA was terminated in 1987 at the founding of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
