Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
Variant namesThe Texas College and University System Coordinating Board was created by the Texas Legislature in 1965. The name was changed in 1987 to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. This statutory, 18-member board is responsible for statewide planning and policies for higher education in Texas. Its major areas of responsibility include financial planning, program development, services to students and campus planning. It replaced the earlier Texas Commission on Higher Education.
