Early American Glass Club of Pittsburgh was founded in 1939 by Marian Cummings of the Fine Arts Department, Carnegie Museum. It was organized as a study group on early glass industry. Later the Association's purpose was to promote the study and appreciation of American glass. In 1940 the Club had its first exhibit on Pittsburgh glass. Since then exhibitions, tours and lectures had become the main activities of the Club. Of note are frequent contacts of Pittsburgh Chapter of Early American Glass Club with the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania, which often hosted Club's meetings.
