Wickersham, Victor Eugene, 1906-1988

Wickersham was a Democratic congressman who served in the U. S. House of Representatives, representing Oklahoma's Seventh and Sixth Districts, 1941-1946, 1949-1956, and 1961-1964. He was also a member of the Oklahoma State Legislature, 1971-1979.

Victor Wickersham was born February 9, 1906. He was educated in Oklahoma public schools and held various jobs in Oklahoma prior to 1941. Wickersham was elected as a Democrat to the seventy-seventh Congress to fill a vacancy caused by the death of Sam C. Massingale. Following this term, he was reelected to Congress from 1941-1947. He later returned to the Congress from 1949-1957 and 1961-1965. After leaving Congress, Wickersham worked in insurance, real estate, and investment brokering. He was elected to terms in the Oklahoma legislature from 1971-1979 and again from February 9, 1988 until his death on March 15, 1988.
