Jones was born in Smithson, PA, Mar. 31, 1934; made her Broadway debut in South Pacific (1953) and her motion picture debut in Oklahoma! (1956); won an Academy Award for her role in Elmer Gantry (1960); did a four year run on the musical sitcom The Partridge family (1970-74); her numerous credits include Carousel (1956), The music man (1962), and The Cheyenne social club (1970).
